Individuals & families

The return most people need, prepared by someone who will pick up the phone in July when a letter shows up.

  • 01

    Individual and family returns

    1040

Federal and state returns for individuals, couples, and families. Dependents, education and child credits, retirement income, and itemized deductions when they beat the standard.

  • 02

    Self-employed and freelance

    Schedule C

Contractors, gig work, and side businesses. Home office, mileage, equipment, and the ordinary business expenses people most often leave on the table.

  • 03

    Quarterly estimated taxes

    1040-ES

If you owed a surprise last April, this is usually the fix. Maritza sets the quarterly amounts so the bill is spread across the year instead of landing all at once.

  • 04

    Amended and prior-year returns

    1040-X

Behind a year or two, or need to correct a return someone else filed. There is generally a three-year window to amend a return and still claim a refund, so an old mistake is often still worth fixing. No judgment. A plan, in order, until you are caught up.

What to bring

Last year's return if you have it, your W-2s and any 1099s, and a rough sense of anything that changed: a move, a new job, a baby, a house, a business. Maritza sends a short checklist once she knows your situation, so you are not gathering paperwork you do not need.
